Returns & Refunds

Standard designs come with a 14-day, no-questions cooling-off period. Custom Sayas are made to your artwork, so they can't be returned unless something is wrong with them. Here's how it all works, and how to start a return.

The short version

Changing your mind: standard designs

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you can cancel an order for standard designs for any reason within 14 days, starting the day after delivery. Tell us within that window — email is fine — then send the items back within 14 days of telling us.

Return postage is at your cost, and the items remain your responsibility until they reach us, so please use a tracked service and keep proof of postage.

The condition we expect

Returned Sayas must be unused and in their original condition. You can inspect a Saya as you would in a shop — slide your knife in, check the fit — but we may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond that, such as kitchen wear, scratches, or oil marks.

Refunds

We refund within 14 days of receiving your return — or of you providing proof of postage, if that's earlier. Refunds go back to your original payment method via Stripe. If you cancel a whole order, we also refund the basic outbound delivery cost you paid, though not any premium delivery upgrade.

Custom Sayas: why they're different

A custom Saya is printed with your initials or your restaurant's logo — made to your specification, for you, and of no use to anyone else. Personalised goods are exempt from the right to cancel under regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, so custom Sayas are non-returnable and non-refundable unless they arrive faulty or misdescribed.

Bundles

The Chef's Bundle is returnable as a complete set — all three Sayas together — provided all three are standard designs. Because the bundle price applies to the set, we can't accept partial bundle returns. If any Saya in a bundle is personalised, that piece is non-returnable as above.

Faulty or misdescribed Sayas

If a Saya arrives damaged, doesn't hold your blade as described, or otherwise isn't right, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies — to every Saya, custom ones included. Within 30 days of delivery you have a short-term right to reject the goods for a full refund. After 30 days, you're entitled to a repair or replacement first; if that fails, a price reduction or a final right to reject. We cover return postage on faulty items.

How to start a return

Email orders@example.com — a placeholder address, to be replaced with the shop's real contact email before launch — with your order number, the items you're returning, and, for faults, a photo or two. We'll reply with the return address and next steps. Please don't post anything back before you've heard from us.

Nothing on this page limits or replaces your statutory rights as a consumer. Where this policy gives you more than the law requires, the policy applies; where the law gives you more, the law wins.
